All the generations, therefore, are, from Abraham to David fourteen generations, and from David to the captivity of Babylon fourteen generations, and from the captivity of Babylon to the Messiah fourteen generations.
18 ܝܰܠܕ݁ܶܗ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܕ݁ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܡܫܺܝܚܳܐ

And the birth of Jesus the Messiah was thus. While his mother Mary was betrothed to Joseph, before they had cohabited, she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit.
19 ܝܰܘܣܶܦ݂ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܒ݁ܰܥܠܳܗ
ܟ݁ܺܐܢܳܐ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܘܠܳܐ ܨܒ݂ܳܐ ܕ݁ܰܢܦ݂ܰܪܣܶܝܗ ܘܶܐܬ݂ܪܰܥܺܝ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܕ݁ܡܰܛܫܝܳܐܝܺܬ݂ ܢܶܫܪܶܝܗ܂

And Joseph her husband was a righteous man, and unwilling to expose her: and he thought of putting her away privately.
20 ܟ݁ܰܕ݂ ܗܳܠܶܝܢ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܐܶܬ݂ܪܰܥܺܝ ܐܶܬ݂ܚܙܺܝ ܠܶܗ ܡܰܠܰܐܟ݂ܳܐ ܕ݁ܡܳܪܝܳܐ

ܐܰܢ݈ܬ݁ܬ݂ܳܟ݂ ܗܰܘ ܓ݁ܶܝܪ ܕ݁ܶܐܬ݂ܺܝܠܶܕ݂ ܒ݁ܳܗ ܡܶܢ ܪܽܘܚܳܐ ܗܽܘ ܕ݁ܩܽܘܕ݂ܫܳܐ܂

And while he contemplated these things, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, and said to him: Joseph, son of David, fear not to take Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her, is from the Holy Spirit:
21 ܬ݁ܺܐܠܰܕ݂ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܒ݁ܪܳܐ ܘܬ݂ܶܩܪܶܐ ܫܡܶܗ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܗܽܘ ܓ݁ܶܝܪ ܢܰܚܶܝܘܗ݈ܝ
ܠܥܰܡܶܗ ܡܶܢ ܚܛܳܗܰܝܗܽܘܢ܂

and she will bear a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for he will resuscitate his people from their sins.
22 ܗܳܕ݂ܶܐ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܟ݁ܽܠܳܗ ܕ݁ܰܗܘܳܬ݂ ܕ݁ܢܶܬ݂ܡܰܠܶܐ

Now all this that occurred, was to fulfill what was spoken of the Lord by the prophet:

Behold, a virgin will conceive, and will bear a son, and thou shalt call his name Emmanuel, which is interpreted, Our God with us.

And when Joseph rose from his sleep, he did as the angel of the Lord commanded him, and took his wife.
25 ܘܠܳܐ ܚܰܟ݂ܡܳܗ ܥܕ݂ܰܡܳܐ
