1 ܘܶܐܡܰܪ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܠܗܽܘܢ ܐܰܡܺܝܢ ܐܳܡܰܪ ܐ݈ܢܳܐ ܠܟ݂ܽܘܢ
ܕ݁ܺܐܝܬ݂ ܐ݈ܢܳܫܳܐ ܕ݁ܩܳܝܡܺܝܢ ܬ݁ܢܳܢ ܕ݁ܠܳܐ ܢܶܛܥܡܽܘܢ ܡܰܘܬ݁ܳܐ ܥܕ݂ܰܡܳܐ ܕ݁ܢܶܚܙܽܘܢ
ܡܰܠܟ݁ܽܘܬ݂ܶܗ ܕ݁ܰܐܠܳܗܳܐ ܕ݁ܶܐܬ݂ܳܬ݂ ܒ݁ܚܰܝܠܳܐ܂

ואמר הוא להון אמין אמר אנא לכון
דאית אנשא דקימין תנן דלא נטעמון מותא עדמא דנחזון
מלכותה דאלהא דאתת בחילא܂
1
And he said to them: Verily I say to you, There are some standing here, who will not taste of death, until they shall see the kingdom of God to be coming with power.
2 ܘܒ݂ܳܬ݂ܰܪ ܫܬ݁ܳܐ ܝܰܘܡܺܝܢ
ܕ݁ܒ݂ܰܪ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܠܟ݂ܺܐܦ݂ܳܐ ܘܰܠܝܰܥܩܽܘܒ݂ ܘܰܠܝܽܘܚܰܢܳܢ ܘܰܐܣܶܩ ܐܶܢܽܘܢ ܠܛܽܘܪܳܐ ܪܳܡܳܐ
ܒ݁ܰܠܚܽܘܕ݂ܰܝܗܽܘܢ ܘܶܐܬ݂ܚܰܠܰܦ݂ ܠܥܺܢܰܝܗܽܘܢ܂

ובתר שתא יומין
דבר ישוע לכאפא וליעקוב וליוחנן ואסק אנון לטורא רמא
בלחודיהון ואתחלף לעניהון܂

And after six days, Jesus took Cephas and James and John, and led them to a high mountain, apart; and was transformed before them.
3 ܘܡܰܙܗܰܪ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܠܒ݂ܽܘܫܶܗ
ܘܡܰܚܘܰܪ ܛܳܒ݂ ܐܰܝܟ݂ ܬ݁ܰܠܓ݁ܳܐ ܐܰܝܟ݁ܰܢܳܐ ܕ݁ܰܒ݂ܢܰܝ ܐ݈ܢܳܫܳܐ ܠܡܰܚܘܳܪܽܘ ܒ݁ܰܐܪܥܳܐ ܠܳܐ
ܡܶܫܟ݁ܚܺܝܢ܂

ומזהר הוא לבושה
ומחור טב איך תלגא איכנא דבני אנשא למחורו בארעא לא
משכחין܂

And his raiment shone and was very white, like snow, so as men on earth can never
whiten.
4 ܘܶܐܬ݂ܚܙܺܝܘ ܠܗܽܘܢ ܐܺܠܺܝܳܐ ܘܡܽܘܫܶܐ ܟ݁ܰܕ݂ ܡܡܰܠܠܺܝܢ ܥܰܡ
ܝܶܫܽܘܥ܂

ואתחזיו להון אליא ומושא כד ממללין עם
ישוע܂
4
And there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, in conversation with Jesus.
5 ܘܶܐܡܰܪ ܠܶܗ ܟ݁ܺܐܦ݂ܳܐ ܪܰܒ݁ܺܝ ܫܰܦ݁ܺܝܪ ܗ݈ܽܘ ܠܰܢ ܕ݁ܗܳܪܟ݁ܳܐ ܢܶܗܘܶܐ
ܘܢܶܥܒ݁ܶܕ݂ ܬ݁ܠܳܬ݂ ܡܰܛܠܺܝܢ ܠܳܟ݂ ܚܕ݂ܳܐ ܘܰܠܡܽܘܫܶܐ ܚܕ݂ܳܐ ܘܠܺܐܠܺܝܳܐ ܚܕ݂ܳܐ܂

ואמר לה כאפא רבי שפיר הו לן דהרכא נהוא
ונעבד תלת מטלין לך חדא ולמושא חדא ולאליא חדא܂
5
And Cephas said to him: Rabbi, it is delightful for us to be here. And let us make three booths; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elijah.
6 ܠܳܐ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܝܳܕ݂ܰܥ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܡܳܢܳܐ ܐܳܡܰܪ ܐܺܝܬ݂ܰܝܗܽܘܢ ܗ݈ܘܰܘ ܓ݁ܶܝܪ
ܒ݁ܕ݂ܶܚܠܬ݂ܳܐ܂

לא דין ידע הוא מנא אמר איתיהון הוו גיר
בדחלתא܂

But he did not know what he said, for they were in trepidation.
7 ܘܰܗܘܳܬ݂ ܥܢܳܢܳܐ ܘܡܰܛܠܳܐ ܗ݈ܘܳܬ݂ ܥܠܰܝܗܽܘܢ ܘܩܳܠܳܐ ܡܶܢ
ܥܢܳܢܳܐ ܕ݁ܳܐܡܰܪ ܗܳܢܰܘ ܒ݁ܶܪܝ ܚܰܒ݁ܺܝܒ݂ܳܐ ܠܶܗ ܫܡܰܥܘ܂

והות עננא ומטלא הות עליהון וקלא מן
עננא דאמר הנו ברי חביבא לה שמעו܂
7
And there was a cloud, and it overshadowed them. And a voice issued from the cloud, which said: This is my beloved Son. Hear ye him.
8 ܘܡܶܢ ܫܶܠܝܳܐ ܟ݁ܰܕ݂
ܚܳܪܘ ܬ݁ܰܠܡܺܝܕ݂ܶܐ ܠܐ݈ܢܳܫ ܠܳܐ ܚܙܰܘ ܐܶܠܳܐ ܠܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܒ݁ܰܠܚܽܘܕ݂ܰܘܗ݈ܝ ܥܰܡܗܽܘܢ܂

ומן שליא כד
חרו תלמידא לאנש לא חזו אלא לישוע בלחודוהי עמהון܂
8
And suddenly, when the disciples looked up, they saw no one with them, except Jesus
only.
9 ܘܟ݂ܰܕ݂ ܢܳܚܬ݁ܺܝܢ ܡܶܢ ܛܽܘܪܳܐ ܡܦ݂ܰܩܶܕ݂ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܠܗܽܘܢ ܕ݁ܰܠܐ݈ܢܳܫ ܠܳܐ
ܢܺܐܡܪܽܘܢ ܡܶܕ݁ܶܡ ܕ݁ܰܚܙܰܘ ܐܶܠܳܐ ܐܶܢ ܡܳܐ ܕ݁ܩܳܡ ܒ݁ܪܶܗ ܕ݁ܐ݈ܢܳܫܳܐ ܡܶܢ ܡܺܝܬ݂ܶܐ܂

וכד נחתין מן טורא מפקד הוא להון דלאנש לא
נאמרון מדם דחזו אלא אן מא דקם ברה דאנשא מן מיתא܂
9
And as they descended the mountain, he commanded them to tell no man what they had seen, till after the Son of man should be risen from the dead.
10 ܘܰܐܚܕ݁ܽܘܗ ܠܡܶܠܬ݂ܳܐ ܒ݁ܢܰܦ݂ܫܗܽܘܢ ܘܒ݂ܳܥܶܝܢ ܗ݈ܘܰܘ ܕ݁ܡܳܢܳܐ ܗ݈ܝ ܗܳܕ݂ܶܐ
ܡܶܠܬ݂ܳܐ ܕ݁ܡܳܐ ܕ݁ܩܳܡ ܡܶܢ ܒ݁ܶܝܬ݂ ܡܺܝܬ݂ܶܐ܂

ואחדוה למלתא בנפשהון ובעין הוו דמנא הי הדא
מלתא דמא דקם מן בית מיתא܂
10
And they kept that saying in their mind; and inquired, What doth this saying mean:
" When he shall be risen from the dead !"
11 ܘܰܡܫܰܐܠܺܝܢ ܗ݈ܘܰܘ ܠܶܗ
ܘܳܐܡܪܺܝܢ ܡܳܢܳܐ ܗܳܟ݂ܺܝܠ ܐܳܡܪܺܝܢ ܣܳܦ݂ܪܶܐ ܕ݁ܺܐܠܺܝܳܐ ܘܳܠܶܐ ܕ݁ܢܺܐܬ݂ܶܐ ܠܽܘܩܕ݂ܰܡ܂

ומשאלין הוו לה
ואמרין מנא הכיל אמרין ספרא דאליא ולא דנאתא לוקדם܂

And they asked him, and said: Why then do the Scribes say, that Elijah must first come ?
12 ܐܳܡܰܪ ܠܗܽܘܢ ܐܺܠܺܝܳܐ ܐܳܬ݂ܶܐ ܠܽܘܩܕ݂ܰܡ ܕ݁ܟ݂ܽܠܡܶܕ݁ܶܡ ܢܰܬ݂ܩܶܢ ܘܰܐܝܟ݁ܰܢܳܐ
ܟ݁ܬ݂ܺܝܒ݂ ܥܰܠ ܒ݁ܪܶܗ ܕ݁ܐ݈ܢܳܫܳܐ ܕ݁ܣܰܓ݁ܺܝ ܢܶܚܰܫ ܘܢܶܣܬ݁ܠܶܐ܂

אמר להון אליא אתא לוקדם דכלמדם נתקן ואיכנא
כתיב על ברה דאנשא דסגי נחש ונסתלא܂

He said to them: Elijah [truly] first cometh, to prepare all things: and, as it is written of the Son of man, he will suffer much, and be rejected.
13 ܐܶܠܳܐ ܐܳܡܰܪ
ܐ݈ܢܳܐ ܠܟ݂ܽܘܢ ܕ݁ܳܐܦ݂ ܐܺܠܺܝܳܐ ܐܶܬ݂ܳܐ ܘܰܥܒ݂ܰܕ݂ܘ ܒ݁ܶܗ ܟ݁ܽܠ ܡܳܐ ܕ݁ܰܨܒ݂ܰܘ ܐܰܝܟ݁ܰܢܳܐ
ܕ݁ܰܟ݂ܬ݂ܺܝܒ݂ ܥܠܰܘܗ݈ܝ܂

אלא אמר
אנא לכון דאף אליא אתא ועבדו בה כל מא דצבו איכנא
דכתיב עלוהי܂

But I say to you: That Elijah hath come; and they have done to him all that they desired, as it was written of him.
14 ܘܟ݂ܰܕ݂ ܐܶܬ݂ܳܐ ܠܘܳܬ݂ ܬ݁ܰܠܡܺܝܕ݂ܶܐ ܚܙܳܐ ܠܘܳܬ݂ܗܽܘܢ
ܟ݁ܶܢܫܳܐ ܣܰܓ݁ܺܝܳܐܐ ܘܣܳܦ݂ܪܶܐ ܟ݁ܰܕ݂ ܕ݁ܳܪܫܺܝܢ ܥܰܡܗܽܘܢ܂

וכד אתא לות תלמידא חזא לותהון
כנשא סגיאא וספרא כד דרשין עמהון܂
14
And when he came to his disciples, he saw a great multitude with them, and the Scribes disputing with them.
15 ܘܒ݂ܰܪ ܫܳܥܬ݂ܶܗ
ܟ݁ܽܠܶܗ ܟ݁ܶܢܫܳܐ ܚܙܰܐܘܽܗ݈ܝ ܘܰܬ݂ܘܰܗܘ ܘܰܪܗܶܛܘ ܫܶܐܠܘ ܒ݁ܰܫܠܳܡܶܗ܂

ובר שעתה
כלה כנשא חזאוהי ותוהו ורהטו שאלו בשלמה܂
15
And immediately the multitude saw him, and were surprised: and they ran and saluted him.
16 ܘܰܡܫܰܐܶܠ
ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܠܣܳܦ݂ܪܶܐ ܡܳܢܳܐ ܕ݁ܳܪܫܺܝܢ ܐܢ݈ܬ݁ܽܘܢ ܥܰܡܗܽܘܢ܂

ומשאל
הוא לספרא מנא דרשין אנתון עמהון܂
16
And he asked the Scribes: What were ye disputing with them ?
17 ܘܰܥܢܳܐ ܚܰܕ݂ ܡܶܢ
ܟ݁ܶܢܫܳܐ ܘܶܐܡܰܪ ܡܰܠܦ݂ܳܢܳܐ ܐܰܝܬ݁ܺܝܬ݂ ܒ݁ܶܪܝ ܠܘܳܬ݂ܳܟ݂ ܕ݁ܺܐܝܬ݂ ܠܶܗ ܪܽܘܚܳܐ ܕ݁ܠܳܐ
ܡܡܰܠܠܳܐ܂

וענא חד מן
כנשא ואמר מלפנא איתית ברי לותך דאית לה רוחא דלא
ממללא܂
17
And one of the multitude replied, and said: Teacher, I have brought to thee my son, who hath a spirit that will not speak.
18 ܘܰܐܝܟ݁ܳܐ ܕ݁ܡܰܕ݂ܪܟ݂ܳܐ ܠܶܗ ܚܳܒ݂ܛܳܐ ܠܶܗ ܘܡܰܪܥܶܬ݂ ܘܰܡܚܰܪܶܩ
ܫܶܢܰܘܗ݈ܝ ܘܝܳܒ݂ܶܫ ܘܶܐܡܪܶܬ݂ ܠܬ݂ܰܠܡܺܝܕ݂ܰܝܟ݁ ܕ݁ܢܰܦ݁ܩܽܘܢܳܝܗ݈ܝ ܘܠܳܐ ܐܶܫܟ݁ܰܚܘ܂

ואיכא דמדרכא לה חבטא לה ומרעת ומחרק
שנוהי ויבש ואמרת לתלמידיך דנפקוניהי ולא אשכחו܂
18
And wherever he seizeth him, he shaketh and teareth him: and he gnasheth his teeth, and pineth away. And I spoke to thy disciples, to cast him out; and they could not.
19 ܥܢܳܐ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܘܶܐܡܰܪ ܠܶܗ ܐܽܘܢ ܫܰܪܒ݁ܬ݂ܳܐ ܕ݁ܠܳܐ ܡܗܰܝܡܢܳܐ ܥܕ݂ܰܡܳܐ
ܠܶܐܡܰܬ݂ܝ ܐܶܗܘܶܐ ܠܘܳܬ݂ܟ݂ܽܘܢ ܘܰܥܕ݂ܰܡܳܐ ܠܶܐܡܰܬ݂ܝ ܐܶܣܰܝܒ݁ܰܪܟ݂ܽܘܢ ܐܰܝܬ݁ܰܐܘܽܗ݈ܝ
ܠܘܳܬ݂ܝ܂

ענא ישוע ואמר לה און שרבתא דלא מהימנא עדמא
לאמתי אהוא לותכון ועדמא לאמתי אסיברכון איתאוהי
לותי܂

Jesus answered, and said to them: O incredulous generation! How long shall I be with you ? how long bear with you ? Bring him to me.
20 ܘܰܐܝܬ݁ܝܽܘܗ݈ܝ ܠܘܳܬ݂ܶܗ ܘܟ݂ܰܕ݂ ܚܙܳܬ݂ܶܗ ܪܽܘܚܳܐ ܒ݁ܰܪ ܫܳܥܬ݂ܶܗ
ܚܒ݂ܰܛܬ݂ܶܗ ܘܰܢܦ݂ܰܠ ܥܰܠ ܐܰܪܥܳܐ ܘܡܶܬ݂ܒ݁ܰܥܰܩ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܘܡܰܪܥܶܬ݂܂
20
ואיתיוהי לותה וכד חזתה רוחא בר שעתה
חבטתה ונפל על ארעא ומתבעק הוא ומרעת܂
20
And they brought him to him. And when the spirit saw him, immediately he shook him; and he fell upon the ground, and wallowed and foamed.
21 ܘܫܰܐܶܠ
ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܠܰܐܒ݂ܽܘܗ݈ܝ ܕ݁ܰܟ݂ܡܳܐ ܠܶܗ ܙܰܒ݂ܢܳܐ ܗܳܐ ܡܶܢ ܕ݁ܗܳܟ݂ܰܢܳܐ ܗܽܘ ܐܳܡܰܪ ܠܶܗ ܗܳܐ ܡܶܢ
ܛܰܠܝܽܘܬ݂ܶܗ܂

ושאל
ישוע לאבוהי דכמא לה זבנא הא מן דהכנא הו אמר לה הא מן
טליותה܂
21
And Jesus asked his father, how long a time he had been thus. He said to him: Lo, from his childhood.
22 ܘܙܰܒ݂ܢܺܝܢ ܣܰܓ݁ܺܝܳܐܢ ܐܰܪܡܝܰܬ݂ܶܗ ܒ݁ܢܽܘܪܳܐ ܘܰܒ݂ܡܰܝܳܐ
ܕ݁ܬ݂ܰܘܒ݁ܕ݂ܺܝܘܗ݈ܝ ܐܶܠܳܐ ܡܶܕ݁ܶܡ ܕ݁ܡܶܫܟ݁ܰܚ ܐܰܢ݈ܬ݁ ܥܰܕ݁ܰܪܰܝܢܝ ܘܶܐܬ݂ܪܰܚܰܡ ܥܠܰܝ܂

וזבנין סגיאן ארמיתה בנורא ובמיא
דתובדיוהי אלא מדם דמשכח אנת עדריני ואתרחם עלי܂
22
And many times it hath thrown him into the fire, and into the water, to destroy him. But, if thou canst do any thing, aid me and have compassion on me.
23 ܐܳܡܰܪ ܠܶܗ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܐܶܢ ܡܶܫܟ݁ܰܚ ܐܰܢ݈ܬ݁ ܕ݁ܰܬ݂ܗܰܝܡܶܢ ܟ݁ܽܠ ܡܶܕ݁ܶܡ ܡܶܫܟ݁ܰܚ
ܕ݁ܢܶܗܘܶܐ ܠܡܰܢ ܕ݁ܰܡܗܰܝܡܶܢ܂

אמר לה ישוע אן משכח אנת דתהימן כל מדם משכח
דנהוא למן דמהימן܂
23
Jesus said to him: If thou canst believe; every thing can be, to him that believeth.
24 ܘܒ݂ܰܪ ܫܳܥܬ݂ܶܗ ܩܥܳܐ ܐܰܒ݂ܽܘܗ݈ܝ ܕ݁ܛܰܠܝܳܐ
ܟ݁ܰܕ݂ ܒ݁ܳܟ݂ܶܐ ܘܳܐܡܰܪ ܡܗܰܝܡܶܢ ܐ݈ܢܳܐ ܡܳܪܝ ܥܰܕ݁ܰܪ ܠܚܰܣܺܝܪܽܘܬ݂ ܗܰܝܡܳܢܽܘܬ݂ܝ܂

ובר שעתה קעא אבוהי דטליא
כד בכא ואמר מהימן אנא מרי עדר לחסירות הימנותי܂

And immediately the father of the child cried out, while he wept and said: I believe; aid thou the defect of my faith.
25 ܟ݁ܰܕ݂ ܚܙܳܐ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܕ݁ܪܳܗܶܛ ܥܰܡܳܐ ܘܡܶܬ݂ܟ݁ܰܢܰܫ ܠܘܳܬ݂ܶܗ ܟ݁ܐܳܐ
ܒ݁ܗܳܝ ܪܽܘܚܳܐ ܛܰܢܦ݂ܬ݂ܳܐ ܘܶܐܡܰܪ ܠܳܗ ܪܽܘܚܳܐ ܚܰܪܶܫܬ݂ܳܐ ܕ݁ܠܳܐ ܡܡܰܠܠܳܐ ܐܶܢܳܐ ܦ݁ܳܩܶܕ݂
ܐ݈ܢܳܐ ܠܶܟ݂ܝ ܦ݁ܽܘܩܝ ܡܶܢܶܗ ܘܬ݂ܽܘܒ݂ ܠܳܐ ܬ݁ܶܥܠܺܝܢ ܠܶܗ܂

כד חזא דין ישוע דרהט עמא ומתכנש לותה כאא
בהי רוחא טנפתא ואמר לה רוחא חרשתא דלא ממללא אנא פקד
אנא לכי פוקי מנה ותוב לא תעלין לה܂
25
And when Jesus saw that the people were, running and collecting around him, he rebuked the unclean spirit, and said to him: Thou deaf and unspeaking spirit, I command thee, come out of him; and no more enter him.
26 ܘܰܩܥܳܐ ܫܺܐܕ݂ܳܐ
ܗܰܘ ܣܰܓ݁ܺܝ ܘܫܰܚܩܶܗ ܘܰܢܦ݂ܰܩ ܘܰܗܘܳܐ ܐܰܝܟ݂ ܡܺܝܬ݂ܳܐ ܐܰܝܟ݂ ܕ݁ܣܰܓ݁ܺܝܶܐܐ ܢܺܐܡܪܽܘܢ
ܕ݁ܡܺܝܬ݂ ܠܶܗ܂

וקעא שאדא
הו סגי ושחקה ונפק והוא איך מיתא איך דסגיאא נאמרון
דמית לה܂

And the demon cried out greatly, and bruised him, and came out. And he was as a dead person; so that many would say, he is dead.
27 ܗܽܘ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܐܰܚܕ݁ܶܗ ܒ݁ܺܐܝܕ݂ܶܗ ܘܰܐܩܺܝܡܶܗ܂

הו דין ישוע אחדה באידה ואקימה܂
27
And Jesus took him by the hand, and raised him up.
28 ܟ݁ܰܕ݂ ܥܰܠ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܠܒ݂ܰܝܬ݁ܳܐ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܫܰܐܠܽܘܗ݈ܝ ܬ݁ܰܠܡܺܝܕ݂ܰܘܗ݈ܝ
ܒ݁ܰܠܚܽܘܕ݂ܰܝܗܽܘܢ ܠܡܳܢܳܐ ܚܢܰܢ ܠܳܐ ܐܶܫܟ݁ܰܚܢ ܠܡܰܦ݁ܳܩܽܘܬ݂ܶܗ܂

כד על דין לביתא ישוע שאלוהי תלמידוהי
בלחודיהון למנא חנן לא אשכחן למפקותה܂
28
And when Jesus entered the house, his disciples asked him privately: Why could not we cast him out ?
29 ܐܳܡܰܪ ܠܗܽܘܢ
ܗܳܢܳܐ ܓ݁ܶܢܣܳܐ ܒ݁ܡܶܕ݁ܶܡ ܠܳܐ ܡܶܫܟ݁ܰܚ ܠܡܶܦ݁ܰܩ ܐܶܠܳܐ ܒ݁ܨܰܘܡܳܐ ܘܒ݂ܰܨܠܽܘܬ݂ܳܐ܂

אמר להון
הנא גנסא במדם לא משכח למפק אלא בצומא ובצלותא܂
29
He saith to them: This kind can come out, by nothing but fasting and prayer.
30 ܘܟ݂ܰܕ݂ ܢܦ݂ܰܩ ܡܶܢ ܬ݁ܰܡܳܢ ܥܳܒ݂ܪܺܝܢ ܗ݈ܘܰܘ ܒ݁ܰܓ݂ܠܺܝܠܳܐ ܘܠܳܐ ܨܳܒ݂ܶܐ
ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܕ݁ܐ݈ܢܳܫ ܢܶܕ݁ܰܥ ܒ݁ܶܗ܂

וכד נפק מן תמן עברין הוו בגלילא ולא צבא
הוא דאנש נדע בה܂
30
And when he departed from there, they passed through Galilee: and he desired that no one might know him.
31 ܡܰܠܶܦ݂ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܓ݁ܶܝܪ ܠܬ݂ܰܠܡܺܝܕ݂ܰܘܗ݈ܝ
ܘܳܐܡܰܪ ܠܗܽܘܢ ܕ݁ܰܒ݂ܪܶܗ ܕ݁ܐ݈ܢܳܫܳܐ ܡܶܫܬ݁ܠܶܡ ܒ݁ܺܐܝܕ݂ܰܝ ܐ݈ܢܳܫܳܐ ܘܢܶܩܛܠܽܘܢܳܝܗ݈ܝ ܘܡܳܐ
ܕ݁ܶܐܬ݂ܩܛܶܠ ܒ݁ܝܰܘܡܳܐ ܕ݁ܰܬ݂ܠܳܬ݂ܳܐ ܢܩܽܘܡ܂

מלף הוא גיר לתלמידוהי
ואמר להון דברה דאנשא משתלם באידי אנשא ונקטלוניהי ומא
דאתקטל ביומא דתלתא נקום܂

For he taught his disciples, and said to them: The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men, and they will kill him; and when he is killed, on the third day, he will rise.
32 ܗܶܢܽܘܢ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܠܳܐ ܝܳܕ݂ܥܺܝܢ
ܗ݈ܘܰܘ ܠܳܗ ܠܡܶܠܬ݂ܳܐ ܘܕ݂ܳܚܠܺܝܢ ܗ݈ܘܰܘ ܕ݁ܰܢܫܰܐܠܽܘܢܳܝܗ݈ܝ܂

הנון דין לא ידעין
הוו לה למלתא ודחלין הוו דנשאלוניהי܂

But they did not understand that speech; and they were afraid to ask him.
33 ܘܶܐܬ݂ܰܘ
ܠܰܟ݂ܦ݂ܰܪܢܰܚܽܘܡ ܘܟ݂ܰܕ݂ ܥܰܠܘ ܠܒ݂ܰܝܬ݁ܳܐ ܡܫܰܐܶܠ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܠܗܽܘܢ ܕ݁ܡܳܢܳܐ ܡܶܬ݂ܚܰܫܒ݂ܺܝܢ
ܗܘܰܝܬ݁ܽܘܢ ܒ݁ܽܐܘܪܚܳܐ ܒ݁ܰܝܢܳܬ݂ܟ݂ܽܘܢ܂

ואתו
לכפרנחום וכד עלו לביתא משאל הוא להון דמנא מתחשבין
הויתון באורחא בינתכון܂

And they came to Capernaum. And when they entered the house, he asked them: What disputed ye among yourselves by the way ?
34 ܗܶܢܽܘܢ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܫܰܬ݁ܺܝܩܺܝܢ ܗ݈ܘܰܘ
ܐܶܬ݂ܚܪܺܝܘ ܗ݈ܘܰܘ ܓ݁ܶܝܪ ܒ݁ܽܐܘܪܚܳܐ ܚܰܕ݂ ܥܰܡ ܚܰܕ݂ ܕ݁ܡܰܢܽܘ ܪܰܒ݂ ܒ݁ܗܽܘܢ܂

הנון דין שתיקין הוו
אתחריו הוו גיר באורחא חד עם חד דמנו רב בהון܂

And they were silent; for by the way they had contended with one another, which should be the great among them.
35 ܘܺܝܬ݂ܶܒ݂ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܘܰܩܪܳܐ ܠܰܬ݂ܪܶܥܣܰܪ ܘܶܐܡܰܪ ܠܗܽܘܢ ܡܰܢ ܕ݁ܨܳܒ݂ܶܐ
ܕ݁ܢܶܗܘܶܐ ܩܰܕ݂ܡܳܝܳܐ ܢܶܗܘܶܐ ܐ݈ܚܪܳܝܳܐ ܕ݁ܟ݂ܽܠ ܐ݈ܢܳܫ ܘܰܡܫܰܡܫܳܢܳܐ ܕ݁ܟ݂ܽܠ ܐ݈ܢܳܫ܂

ויתב ישוע וקרא לתרעסר ואמר להון מן דצבא
דנהוא קדמיא נהוא אחריא דכל אנש ומשמשנא דכל אנש܂

And Jesus sat down, and called the twelve, and said to them: Whoever would be first, let him be last of all, and servitor to all.
36 ܘܰܢܣܰܒ݂ ܛܰܠܝܳܐ ܚܰܕ݂ ܘܰܐܩܺܝܡܶܗ ܒ݁ܰܡܨܰܥܬ݂ܳܐ ܘܫܰܩܠܶܗ ܥܰܠ ܕ݁ܪܳܥܰܘܗ݈ܝ
ܘܶܐܡܰܪ ܠܗܽܘܢ܂

ונסב טליא חד ואקימה במצעתא ושקלה על דרעוהי
ואמר להון܂

And he took a child, and set him in the midst, and took him in his arms and said to them:
37 ܟ݁ܽܠ ܡܰܢ ܕ݁ܰܢܩܰܒ݁ܶܠ ܐܰܝܟ݂ ܗܳܢܳܐ ܛܰܠܝܳܐ ܒ݁ܫܶܡܝ ܠܺܝ ܗܽܘ
ܡܩܰܒ݁ܶܠ ܘܡܰܢ ܕ݁ܠܺܝ ܡܩܰܒ݁ܶܠ ܠܳܐ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܠܺܝ ܡܩܰܒ݁ܶܠ ܐܶܠܳܐ ܠܡܰܢ ܕ݁ܫܰܕ݁ܪܰܢܝ܂

כל מן דנקבל איך הנא טליא בשמי לי הו
מקבל ומן דלי מקבל לא הוא לי מקבל אלא למן דשדרני܂
37
Whoever receiveth one in my name, like this child, he receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth not me [only], but him that sent me.
38 ܐܳܡܰܪ ܠܶܗ ܝܽܘܚܰܢܳܢ ܪܰܒ݁ܺܝ ܚܙܰܝܢ ܐ݈ܢܳܫ ܕ݁ܡܰܦ݁ܶܩ ܫܺܐܕ݂ܶܐ ܒ݁ܰܫܡܳܟ݂
ܘܰܟ݂ܠܰܝܢܳܝܗ݈ܝ ܥܰܠ ܕ݁ܠܳܐ ܢܩܶܦ݂ ܠܰܢ܂

אמר לה יוחנן רבי חזין אנש דמפק שאדא בשמך
וכליניהי על דלא נקף לן܂
38
John said to him: Rabbi, we saw one casting out demons in thy name, and we forbad him, because he adhereth not to us.
39 ܐܳܡܰܪ ܠܗܽܘܢ ܝܶܫܽܘܥ ܠܳܐ
ܬ݁ܶܟ݂ܠܽܘܢܳܝܗ݈ܝ ܠܰܝܬ݁ ܓ݁ܶܝܪ ܐ݈ܢܳܫ ܕ݁ܥܳܒ݂ܶܕ݂ ܚܰܝܠܶܐ ܒ݁ܫܶܡܝ ܘܡܶܫܟ݁ܰܚ ܥܓ݂ܰܠ ܐܳܡܰܪ
ܥܠܰܝ ܕ݁ܒ݂ܺܝܫ܂

אמר להון ישוע לא
תכלוניהי לית גיר אנש דעבד חילא בשמי ומשכח עגל אמר
עלי דביש܂

Jesus said to them: Forbid him not; for there is no one who doeth mighty works in my name, that can readily speak evil of me.
40 ܡܰܢ ܕ݁ܠܳܐ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܗܳܟ݂ܺܝܠ ܠܽܘܩܒ݂ܰܠܟ݂ܽܘܢ ܚܠܳܦ݂ܰܝܟ݁ܽܘܢ
ܗ݈ܽܘ܂

מן דלא הוא הכיל לוקבלכון חלפיכון
הו܂
40
Whoever therefore is not against you, is for you.
41 ܟ݁ܽܠ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܕ݁ܢܰܫܩܶܝܟ݂ܽܘܢ ܟ݁ܳܣܳܐ ܕ݁ܡܰܝܳܐ ܒ݁ܰܠܚܽܘܕ݂ ܒ݁ܰܫܡܳܐ
ܕ݁ܕ݂ܰܡܫܺܝܚܳܐ ܐܰܢ݈ܬ݁ܽܘܢ ܐܰܡܺܝܢ ܐܳܡܰܪ ܐ݈ܢܳܐ ܠܟ݂ܽܘܢ ܕ݁ܠܳܐ ܢܰܘܒ݁ܶܕ݂ ܐܰܓ݂ܪܶܗ܂

כל דין דנשקיכון כסא דמיא בלחוד בשמא
דדמשיחא אנתון אמין אמר אנא לכון דלא נובד אגרה܂
41
For whoever shall give you to drink a cup of water only, on the ground that ye are Messiah's [followers], verily I say to you, he will not lose his reward.
42 ܘܟ݂ܽܠ ܡܰܢ ܕ݁ܢܰܟ݂ܫܶܠ ܠܚܰܕ݂ ܡܶܢ ܗܳܠܶܝܢ ܙܥܽܘܪܶܐ ܕ݁ܰܡܗܰܝܡܢܺܝܢ ܒ݁ܺܝ
ܦ݁ܰܩܳܚ ܗ݈ܘܳܐ ܠܶܗ ܐܶܠܽܘ ܪܰܡܝܳܐ ܗ݈ܘܳܬ݂ ܪܰܚܝܳܐ ܕ݁ܰܚܡܳܪܳܐ ܒ݁ܨܰܘܪܶܗ ܘܰܫܕ݂ܶܐ ܒ݁ܝܰܡܳܐ܂

וכל מן דנכשל לחד מן הלין זעורא דמהימנין בי
פקח הוא לה אלו רמיא הות רחיא דחמרא בצורה ושדא בימא܂

And whoever shall cause one of these little ones that believe in me to stumble, it were better for him, if a millstone were put to his neck, and he cast into the sea.
43 ܐܶܢ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ ܡܰܟ݂ܫܠܳܐ ܠܳܟ݂ ܐܺܝܕ݂ܳܟ݂ ܦ݁ܣܽܘܩܶܝܗ ܦ݁ܰܩܳܚ ܗ݈ܽܘ ܠܳܟ݂
ܦ݁ܫܺܝܓ݂ܳܐ ܕ݁ܬ݂ܶܥܽܘܠ ܠܚܰܝܶܐ ܐܰܘ ܟ݁ܰܕ݂ ܐܺܝܬ݂ ܠܳܟ݂ ܬ݁ܰܪܬ݁ܶܝܢ ܐܺܝܕ݂ܺܝܢ ܬ݁ܺܐܙܰܠ
ܠܓ݂ܺܗܰܢܳܐ܂

אן דין מכשלא לך אידך פסוקיה פקח הו לך
פשיגא דתעול לחיא או כד אית לך תרתין אידין תאזל
לגהנא܂
43
And if thy hand make thee offend, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than, having two hands, to go into hell;
44 ܐܰܝܟ݁ܳܐ ܕ݁ܬ݂ܰܘܠܰܥܗܽܘܢ ܠܳܐ ܡܳܝܬ݁ܳܐ ܘܢܽܘܪܗܽܘܢ ܠܳܐ
ܕ݁ܳܥܟ݁ܳܐ܂

איכא דתולעהון לא מיתא ונורהון לא
דעכא܂
44
where their worm dieth not, and their fire is not extinguished.
45 ܘܶܐܢ ܪܶܓ݂ܠܳܟ݂ ܡܰܟ݂ܫܠܳܐ ܠܳܟ݂ ܦ݁ܣܽܘܩܶܝܗ ܦ݁ܰܩܳܚ ܗ݈ܽܘ ܠܳܟ݂
ܕ݁ܬ݂ܶܥܽܘܠ ܠܚܰܝܶܐ ܚܓ݂ܺܝܣܳܐ ܐܰܘ ܟ݁ܰܕ݂ ܐܺܝܬ݂ ܠܳܟ݂ ܬ݁ܰܪܬ݁ܶܝܢ ܪܶܓ݂ܠܺܝܢ ܬ݁ܶܦ݁ܶܠ
ܒ݁ܓ݂ܺܗܰܢܳܐ܂

ואן רגלך מכשלא לך פסוקיה פקח הו לך
דתעול לחיא חגיסא או כד אית לך תרתין רגלין תפל
בגהנא܂
45
And if thy foot make thee offend, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life lamed, than, having two feet, to fall into hell;
46 ܐܰܝܟ݁ܳܐ ܕ݁ܬ݂ܰܘܠܰܥܗܽܘܢ ܠܳܐ ܡܳܝܬ݁ܳܐ ܘܢܽܘܪܗܽܘܢ ܠܳܐ
ܕ݁ܳܥܟ݁ܳܐ܂

איכא דתולעהון לא מיתא ונורהון לא
דעכא܂

ܥܰܝܢܺܝܢ ܬ݁ܶܦ݁ܶܠ ܒ݁ܓ݂ܺܗܰܢܳܐ ܕ݁ܢܽܘܪܳܐ܂

ואן עינך מכשלא לך חציה פקח הו לך
דבחדא עינך תעול למלכותה דאלהא או כד אית לך תרתין
עינין תפל בגהנא דנורא܂
47
And if thy eye make thee offend, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter with one eye into the kingdom of God, than, having two eyes, to fall into the hell of fire;
48 ܐܰܝܟ݁ܳܐ ܕ݁ܬ݂ܰܘܠܰܥܗܽܘܢ ܠܳܐ
ܡܳܝܬ݁ܳܐ ܘܢܽܘܪܗܽܘܢ ܠܳܐ ܕ݁ܳܥܟ݁ܳܐ܂

איכא דתולעהון לא
מיתא ונורהון לא דעכא܂

where their worm dieth not, and their fire is not extinguished.
49 ܟ݁ܽܠ ܓ݁ܶܝܪ ܒ݁ܢܽܘܪܳܐ ܢܶܬ݂ܡܠܰܚ ܘܟ݂ܽܠ

כל גיר בנורא נתמלח וכל
דבחתא במלחא תתמלח܂

For every thing will be salted with fire; and every sacrifice will be salted with salt.
50 ܫܰܦ݁ܺܝܪܳܐ ܗ݈ܝ ܡܶܠܚܳܐ ܐܶܢ ܕ݁ܶܝܢ
ܡܶܠܚܳܐ ܬ݁ܶܦ݂ܟ݁ܰܗ ܒ݁ܡܳܢܳܐ ܬ݁ܶܬ݂ܡܠܰܚ ܬ݁ܶܗܘܶܐ ܒ݁ܟ݂ܽܘܢ ܡܶܠܚܳܐ ܘܰܒ݂ܫܰܝܢܳܐ ܗܘܰܘ ܚܰܕ݂

מלחא תפכה במנא תתמלח תהוא בכון מלחא ובשינא הוו חד
עם חד܂

Salt is a good thing: but if the salt become insipid, with what will it be salted ? Let there be salt in you: and be ye in peace, one with another.
